Super Mario Rewritten: Chapter 6

“Luigi...”

Our ‘slightly taller than his brother’ protagonist felt a pain in his arm. He started groaning, reaching for a giant mass he felt over his chest.

“Luigi... you probably don’t want to grab that...”

As his head started becoming clearer, Luigi’s eyes slowly cracked open. The sun’s powerful rays forced him to shut them, however. Luigi’s arm reached out to feel a mass over his shoulder.

“You probably don’t want to grab that either...”

Luigi’s eyes opened once more, as he started to fully regain consciousness. Lifting his back up off of the ground, he started to take in his surroundings. Although a few trees were in his vicinity, he realized very quickly that he wasn’t in the forest anymore. His eyes met with a familiar face.

“Y-you saved me?” asked Luigi to the Spiny. Luigi then looked down to notice a large bandage wrapped around both of his arms, strapped across his chest. “W-wow... I got hurt bad!” yelled out Luigi.

“Actually, most of those injuries came from me trying to bandage you up” replied the Spiny. His response didn’t register with Luigi, who was still very out of it.

Luigi looked around to see a small hut, along with a campfire, off in the near-distance.

Far off from the village where Luigi and the Spiny, yet to be named, were residing was a small cave on top of Mount Corona. Inside the mountain were a Shy Guy wearing a Captain’s Hat, a Boo also wearing a Captain’s Hat, a figure in a hooded cloak, and a Paratroopa wearing a ‘Super Mario’ t-shirt.

“So, we all agree? I get to be the captain?” asked the Shy Guy. The Boo cackled in response.

“Look at my hat! Can’t you see that I would be much more fit to be the captain?!” replied the Boo. The Paratroopa stepped in.

“We’ve had this Captain discussion three days in a row, and each time it does happen, it takes up the entirety of our three hour meeting. Can we get down to brass tax, please?” asked the Paratroopa.

The Boo, ready to give a response, sighed and backed up towards the wall, falling through since he was a ghost.

“Alright, back on topic. Our friend here...” the Paratroopa said, motioning towards the cloaked individual, “Mentioned that he knows where one of the sacred ‘Star Crystals’ are. Rumour has it that if you gather all of these Star Crystals... well, I’m sure you know the rest. Classic Super Mario plot!”

The cloaked figure, along with the Shy Guy and the Boo, gave the Paratroopa a puzzled look.

“Ahh forget it. When you gather these Star Crystals, it’ll summon a powerful being from beyond the Mushroom Kingdom that will grant any wish that is your desire!” yelled out the Paratroopa. “And while we’ve all known this for some time, our friend...” the Paratroopa motioned once again to the cloaked figure, “Says that he knows the location of one of these Star Crystals.”

The cloaked figure nodded, and then moved towards his three comrades.

“One of the Crystals is with Super Mario” said the figure.

Back at Mario’s pad, Mario was relaxing with a smile on his face. Around his wrist was one of the sacred Star Crystals, part of a chain that had been given to him for rescuing Princess Peach for the fiftieth time.
